What is /sci/'s opinion of biology?

pic related, it's a biology

>> No.1259507

biology is just applied chemistry

it's flawed

It gives you AIDS.

>> No.1259519

I was wondering the same. I'm a molecular biologist and always wonder why /sci/ gives biologists such a hard time. We create life and mess around with genomes and proteins to make life easier for everyone... so what's the deal?
Unless by "biology" you guys mean "botany" and "zoology", but we're much cooler than them ;_;

I too feel neglected. It's as if we're not a real science.

I think they're just jealous because with us, it's applied- cells actually are there physically and we can poke around with them.

For physicists it's all theoretical math bullshit, and for the computer geeks, it's all code.

we get to actually observe things!

I have actually. It's just highly nutritious algae extract. Nothing wrong with it until you put some bacteria/fungi on it

>What is /sci/'s opinion of biology?

The golden age of Biology is just right around the corner. Physics have had theirs, Chemistry has never really had it, just odd bits here and there. Biology though, it's the future.

>> No.1259747

Hey molecular biologists, why do I never see an interesting thread on a molecular biology topic on /sci/?

Lurking /sci/ makes you think that biology = evolution + teenagers raging at creationists

so because some douche with a webcomic made a little science joke a whole branch of science is ignored.

Well then we should all just be doing math, right? Yah, fucking nothing would get done.

This is why no one likes biofags. I'm not hating on biology, since there is a lot of important and interesting work there, but most people doing biology are going into med school and there is so much of biology that is just fucking boring. The fact most biofags are "normal" people adds to the fact you guys arent accepted in with the hard science and math people.

SO WHEN ARE YOU BIOLOGYFAGS GOING TO START GROWING LIMBS, ORGANS AND SHIT FOR TRANSPLANTATION AND REGENERATION??

Interesting developments on printing layers of cells on paper which can be dissolved to give 3d cell clumps.
Also developments whereby all cells can be removed from an organ, leaving a 'skeleton' which can be re-seeded with personalised cells.
