Alright fellow /sci/ fags I'm going to explain to you very simply why we should shut off all of our telescopes, radio transmissions, and anything else broadcasting where we are, so that we can preserve the human race

>HAHAHA WOW SCHIZO ANON
>Good point but let me finish
>According to what we know about evolution, the more adaptable the species, the more likely it is to survive in some form accross time.
>Take a look at the endangered species list
>Almost all are animals not suited for anything more then a single environment
>Or, an extremely intelligent animal called a human finds them tasty, and happens to be very good at spreading to its environment and reking its habitat
>SO, it is reasonable to assume that humans, being the most adaptable and intelligent (the later helping with the former) will continue to spread throughout time, at some point probably through the solar system, at least within the next 5,000 years
>Almost certainly they will consume, conquer, consume, conquer, until the solar system runs out of crap.

>Lets apply this logic to AYYs
>Assuming that AYYs evolution is in anyway similar in principle (Natural selection and the works) then we can assume that any that acheived some form of sentience would behave in a somewhat similar way
>Assuming they got rid of religon (If they never had any) and defulted to rationalism (of some type) then they would do the most rational thing to keep their species safe
>Annihalte any threats that may be in competition for the same resources
>Again this is assuming they are limited by the speed of light as we are
>Upon learning about another Civs existance, the most logical thing to do would be to send an object the size of phobos at near light speed toward that planet to wipe them out or atleast set them back a few thousand years
>Nothing personal, just like its not personal when we shoot the bears and tigers that threaten our land
>We dont know their intentions or goals
>We dont know where they want to go or what to do
>All we know as that they could kill us

This is why I propose we destroy SETI, and shut up.
