Sup /med/ I got my BSc in July but I can't start the masters/residency until February of 2022, due to COVID this was the first available spot unfortunately. Is there anything I can do to make myself more competitive when I finally get my masters degree? Because of this I'll be 27 when I become a doctor and my end goal would be to teach at the medical faculty here. I work as a research nurse at the cardiology right now and also do some nightshifts as a nursing assistant at the COVID department.

Not joking. However, my Uni really emphasizes on anatomy as a knock out subject. Older textbooks are even better than modern ones because they are more detailed than modern ones. In modern textbooks important sections of the head like the fossa pterygopalatina aren´t described really in detail.
Old textbooks from like the 90s are way better. (For example Waldeyer wrote a really good one in German).

Watch some rxn mechanism videos so you have an idea of what all the skills are eventually building towards.
There's a lot of little details you have to learn before you can understand bigger picture chemistry, remember that the point of the class is to learn how molecules are built and to develop molecular intuition.

The mere notion of violating someone's bodily self determination is abhorrent. It doesn't matter if you're attenuating their bodily functions or ablating them outright. And if you're within a greater structure, and to a place where it's reasonable to even consider which of the unfortunate fats is better, you're already doing it all wrong.

It's part of an overarching manufacturing and agricultural model applied to its human chattel, from birth all the way to the ramp. Quake 4's becoming a strogg section is a good metaphor for hospital birth and the child within narcissistic and psychopathic societies.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UPnlDUObUY

I severely doubt the world can ever solve any of its problems without first completely eliminating genital cutting rituals. Alternatively you can say that man must now double down on the war to end all wars, and so far as creating a totalitarian globalized system, the ends justify the means. A lot of people unfortunately have chosen to passively accept the latter, the collective and "the machine" is thus their God. They place their faith in it completely.

Just think. His first time masturbating, the particularities in how he pleasures himself thereafter, the way a partner interacts with him, even the pattern and minutia in how he thrusts when having sex, all comes down to the whims of this one surgeon. How much sleep did he get last night, what was his morning coffee like, was he irritated or calm, is he a real go-getter completionist or is he a "good enough" kind of guy....

And it's completely allowed. Considered normal. Happened ten years ago. Happened yesterday. Happened today. Is likely happening as I write this. Will happen tomorrow. Will happen the next day. And the next. And the next. And the next. Once it starts, it just keeps on goin'. Like any automaton.

do different strains of HPV present differently? in the case of warts, could you identify the strain by appearance? like, say, strain "1" is typically raised and skin colored (or whatever). or is the presentation of a wart unique to the person's body, and basically all warts look the same on a given person?

It's taken from a webm I've seen on /tv/ where an actress visits this skinny male and begins massaging his neck. Could that be related, some sort of condition relieved by massage of that area?

Yesterday i got Paronychia diagnosis by a doctor.

recently according to her, they have a new approach in how to cure it better, i was tasked to buy a bottle of ASOL, a box of compresses and tape. I was to soak the compress with the Asol and keep in on my finger for 1 day, if it didn't improve i will get Heracillin(antibiotic) and use it 3 times/day for 10 days or until fully cured. If that doesn't work i was issued to come back and they are gonna poke it.

Now my question is, before this new path they would give you antibiotics day 1.

I guess they don't want me to get resistant germs, but is it really that common though? Do people eat way too much antibiotics?

taking antibiotics pills in any dose will mess with your gut bacteria so that makes sense

i am not sure why you wouldn't get prescribed local anitibioticum to apply to the finger though?

When I was a kid I used to get cuts, nosebleeds, bruises and whatnot oftenly so I got used to it real quick.
The nastiest shit I can recall is one diabetic foot completely rotten and avulsed on a pt that was in septic shock and whose children did not want to amputate because "they wanted a second opinion". It was during my angiology rotation so we left the living corpse to the infernal medicine drones and fuck off from there.
Most procedures are done with an sterile rag on top so you kinda detach the limb/tissue away from the patient and treat it as a unit instead of part of someone's body.
It honestly doesn't take any kind of special person to do this.

There's plenty of shitty doctors in my country.
Do you think it's a good idea to learn some stuff about medicine, as much as I can while doing a completely unrelated degree, or would I just be needlessly setting up Dunning-Kruger traps for myself and becoming THAT patient?

Then intro human anatomy I suppose. And what do doctors study from there before they specialize?

medical research is absolute garbage nowadays especially when performed at a low level
end up with a p-hacked result where some garbage overly complicated intervention leads to a 2% better clinical outcome but in actual fact it just complicates guidelines and the clinical environment resulting in all patients getting poorer care

so tired of 'recommendations' that just complicate otherwise basic treatments resulting in a big giant mess. Not saying that your research is like that, but it likely is

It depends, the standard ones like prometheus or sobota are lacking especially when it comes to cranial structures. The duale reihe seems to offer better insight in some topics, but maybe you could give some insight into what level of detail we are talking about? You may also want to have a clear definition of what you consider as "suffice". Lecture+ anki grind may be enough to pass the exam or have a good grade but not so much to store rationalized information to further use into your clinical curriculum.

Guys, got a problem. I was pretty sick in the beginning of this year and had to sit around all day. Then Corona made me sit around even more for work.
I get weird symptoms sometimes, heart racing, chest pounding, pain on my upper spine (not extreme), crazy hard muscles around some vertebrae, panic attacks that last for half an hour or so.
I'm 99% convinced it's because of a problem with my upper spine. Doctors ruled out the heart and a slip disc. One doctor recommended doing sports, so I did that, but last time I did pull-ups, my heart started pounding again and I heard it beating extremely loud in my left ear.

What the fuck is going on?
