All height is positive, latitude can be phrased as distance from the north pole. And then you have the bearing to Orion [0, 2π). No negatives in description, it's only necessary for policy and such. Lrn2polar coordinates.

Negative numbers are just the extension of the natural numbers so that we can solve certain equations.

If you think only about natural numbers equations like

X=2+2
Y=3-1

Can be answered. But other equations like

X=5-7

Would have no answer in the natural domain. Thus negative numbers where introduced.

The same goes for imaginary numbers. They were introduced to solve equations with negative square roots.

You can try.
Just make a number (say K) what when multiplied by 0 is equal 1.

The problem is that would be inconsistent with a number times 0 equal 0 derived in the previous set of numbers.

The extension with negative numbers and imaginary that I mentioned don't make any inconsistence with the previous set. You can get the same answers found in the previously set as a special case of the new extended set.

It depends of where are you using. In fields like vectors, kinematics or dynamics, it can be negative position because the viewer's points is (0,0), meaning that the position is relative. Obviously, in cases such the basic problem of "If there is 3 apples and someone grabs 4, how many apples are there?", the negative result is by common sense an ilogic one.
