If the virus hasn't been isolated, what exactly are the tests testing for, and why are so many cases coming back as positive?

RNA that's available in gene bank, imo it's written there.

RNA segments that China was kind enough to give, thus resulting in Chinese industrial quality results.

It has, see images and read

"Further development of accurate and rapid methods to identify unknown respiratory pathogens is still needed. On the basis of analysis of three complete genomes obtained in this study, we designed several specific and sensitive assays targeting ORF1ab, N, and E regions of the 2019-nCoV genome to detect viral RNA in clinical specimens. The primer sets and standard operating procedures have been shared with the World Health Organization and are intended for surveillance and detection of 2019-nCoV infection globally and in China. More recent data show 2019-nCoV detection in 830 persons in China." [January 2020]

>why are so many cases coming back as positive?
Follow the money. PCR testing is a private, for profit business and 'positive' testing can have a financial incentive, at least another test, sometimes much, much more. Remember Elmhurst?

The PCR test cannot detect an infection unless you show typical symptoms, but it can detect remnants (debris) of a formerly present virus that has been deactivated by the immune system such that you are no longer infectious.

It is easy to achieve a false positive test by increasing the cutoff threshold (ct) above 20 or 25. Unfortunately this ct value is private ip (trade secret) of the lab that evaluates the samples. Again, follow the money.

"Different from both MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV, 2019-nCoV is the seventh member of the family of coronaviruses that infect humans." Just another corona virus, well known to and easily defeated by your immune system.

Stop mass testing the healthy and the 'plandemic' is over.
