It depends what you understand as a simulation.
Maybe is a question for a phylosophy trend...

Yes, the space is used as database system and it behaves on the behalf of physics which is nowhere near realty.

However, we don't have to worry if it's simulated, because for us, it's real. And if somebody one day turns of the simulation, we'll have to remember as hard as possible the quantum physics and standard model, to get same data in ram and exist again.

I personally build universe from subatomic particles in physics simulation and it's hard work.

what does it mean to live in a simulation? what is the distinction between physical matter and virtual matter?

where is the power in holding this belief? its no different than making the claim that nature is governed by laws and so on .

Some anon a few weeks ago did some quick calculations and showed it would take something like 10^27 seconds in the parent universe to simulate one second of our universe. So no, we are not.

Why simulate the entire Universe when all you need to really do is simulate a human brain? Dreams tell us that brains are perfectly capable of experiencing pain, pleasure, smell, taste, etc. without any of those actual stimuli. If you figured out the right electrical and chemical inputs, you could easily fool a brain in a jar that it's in the real world, reading a post on 4chan telling it to PLEASE WAKE UP or something.

There's a lot of tricks you can use to fool the player into thinking there's more being simulated than there actually is. Ask video game designers.

>are we living in a simulation
no
>but most observers would be simulated
>so shouldn't a typical observer expect
>to be simulated, a priori?
no
the number of observers and their status as
simulated/unsimulated doesn't matter
what matters is the number of OBSERVATIONS
not all observers are weighted equally when rolling the dice

consider this hypothetical:
there is a finite number of mortals, and one immortal
you wake up with no knowledge of which one you are
a priori, as soon as you make the first observation
you should then expect to be the immortal
since almost all observations belong to him.

same thing in regards to simulation:
even if more observers are simulated,
most observations would be UNSIMULATED
so given that you perform an observation
without knowing whether you're simulated/unsimulated
you should expect to be unsimulated, a priori

that's cute, but what if the simulations are designed to run so many observations that they outnumber unsimulated observers by design?
