>Before you were born you didnt exist
>You have NO memories before you were born
>YOU DID NOT EXIST AT ALL
>Suddenly you start existing and start being concious even though you didnt exist for mililons of years
>When you die you stop existing

Doesnt this prove that Death is a meme and that Souls have a 100% chance of existing?

>> No.12206727

>>12206725
Yeah and I don't have the memories or the consciousness of a baby born today while I'm alive. If you suddenly disappeared right now and a baby was born, you wouldn't suddenly become that baby. There is no 'transfer' of souls. When a baby is born, it is simply the creation of a new consciousness. When someone dies the consciousness disappears forever.

How does that prove souls?
There's a key difference between the time before existence, the time now, and the time after death.
mainly a working brain.
1 million years ago you're brain never existed, thus you would never perceive, organize, and compute existence.
1 million years from now your brain has long since rotten and it's structure is completely gone, no brain to perceive, organize, and compute existence.

My conciousnes didnt exist for millions of years yet it exists now. Why do you think if I died and lost conciousnes that I wouldnt regain conciousnes again?

Because that doesn't make any fucking sense. Everything you listed in your thread in no way supports the assertion you just made. 'You' is intrinsically tied to your body. The only way 'you' could *might* come back is if an exact copy of you exists billions of years in the future where continuity could continue. But if that was the case then why did 'you' begin as a fetus and not just randomly emerge in the middle of your life with a bunch of memories?

I know what you mean it's just not going to be "you" but how else could someone describe it?

The absolute worst case scenario for an afterlife is just repeating the same lifetime over and over without realizing it. I mean if you're a top chad that lives a life of nonstop ultimate hedonism it's a good deal, but fuck me if I'm doomed to this sub-mediocrity forever.

Consciousness is extended into the child when you create them; they are directly formed via one of the cells from your body. What DOESN'T survive is your thoughts and memories and personality

You're argument literally implies a soul tied to one specific combination of cells that create one specific brain. I don't think 'souls' exist per se, but op is right there is a non-zero chance of existing after non-existence. This cannot be refuted without also implying something intrinsically changes about your ""soul"" after death. The only question is how many fucking ants you live and die as before rolling a high int species like humans. Which also doesn't even imply a life free of suffering.

That would imply that consciousness exists outside of your brain which hasn't been proven.

>> No.12211796

>>12206725
It is illogical to argue against the existence of your own free will, since the decision of whether the argument makes sense or not is dependent on your ability to make a choice either way. Therefore, you cannot argue against your free-will (see Descartes).
Free will is inconsistent with a mechanistic, deterministic universe. Therefore, the universe is non-mechanical and non-deterministic.
Quantum mechanics is a fundamentally non-local theory that is inconsistent with local hidden variables (see Bell's theorem).
Therefore, there are non-local fundamental interactions going on in your brain and body, even if they are not detectable.
Closing these facts into something that settles the exact nature of consciousness is something that has never been done, but it is easy to see that there is some kind of immaterial influence going on that would revive the concept of a "soul" in a scientific way.
