Wasn't it Feynmann that once said that "the real award is in the excitement of the discovery itself"... while simultaneously accepting the awards though.

>> No.12200094

Recognizing valuable work doesn't solely benefit the individual getting recognized, especially for something like science where there isn't really much bringing high-profile research to the eyes of the public. Regardless, you probably wouldn't have heard of Perelman or spend time praising his ability had it not been for him being offered the Fields medal.

there's a documentary in which Feynman intensely expresses his disdain and disgust for awards such as the nobel prize. It goes along the lines of "these people that sit in a room around a table discussing who we should deem worthy of our acknowledgment ". He expresses it with so much disgust. It is glorious. This is where he says >>12200065 as well. Feynman is srsly my fucking hero hands down. I swear to god Rick from rick and morty is based on Feynman. Except Rick is a total faggot and Feynman is based as fuck.

I don't fucking know know Feynman and can not speak for him. What i can say is the disgust he expressed while talking down the nobel prize and all the faggots involved in choosing who gets it was as authentic and sincere as it gets. And considering obama got 1 for literally god damn nothing, i'd have to agree.

Feynman actually wanted to refuse Nobel prize. So he asked it to the his familiar journalist. But that journalist said 'you would be much more popular if you refuse prize. So receive it unless you want to be like that'. Then Feynman followed this advice.

He's absolutely right. Perelman's popularity came from mostly his refuse on Fields medal.

no, but they need enough to have a home and eat. most smart people do their work out of passion, for the reward of finding an answer itself, not for any prize. however, some recognition or prizes could be nice, especially if they needed it economically. why look a gift a horse in the mouth? plus you could use the resources to go on and do other things or help others.

He is one of the smartest identified posters on the board, and maybe the smartest overall. His physics ideas have potential, and his RH commentary is noteworthy, even if it is outside the scope of the traditional problem, which ironically was proven true by another 4 chan user.

It's not that Perelman didn't want the Prize, it's that he was protesting against Hamilton being excluded from the prize. It's like if Hairer turned down the $3M for stealing the MCM unit cell from me in protest of me not receiving the prize with him. It's a lot different than that too because Perelman actually carried Hamilton's work forward and made his own original contributions while Hairer has only pointless dressed my idea in jargon, advancing it not at all, but calling it a "regularity structure" instead of a cosmological unit cell.

What Wilczek didn't steal but calls time crystals in a deliberate attempt to act like he's talking about something other than my idea. What basically everyone who ever saw tried to steal from me except everyone who I ask to publish it who all tell me it's worthless garbage.
