Hi /sci/.

I want to become a mad scientist and ultimately dominate the world. What is the best field I should go for this, I was thinking about:

-Genetics: engineering übermensch or creating a new super bacteriological weapon and threatening the world governments with it.

-Chemistry: create an obedience drug that I would dump in the public water network.

-Robotic: creating giant mechas that I would send over the white house.


Your thoughts? I've already started to visit my local psych wards to recruit minions that will help me in my mission, but I haven't find yet my coward lieutenant, feel free to help.

To become a mad scientist capable of world domination, one must be competent in all fields and excel in several.

Mad engineer you mean, unless you'll be testing some mad hypothesis by dominating the world.

The easiest way to wreak havoc would be biological weaponry, since everything (except possibly, a delivery system) would be relatively low-cost and possible to develop in secret. Also since mainstream scientists/engineers aren't working on bioweapons (offensively), you could be a unique specialist; IMO this is an important aspect to the mad scientist/engineer persona, since non-illegal disciplines are bound to have thousands of other people working in then, and you won't get ahead of those without both genius and copious amounts of funding.

Chemistry? useless for anything more than becoming a drug dealer.

Genetics? slightly more room for world domination but still ultimately lacking. While you could create weapons of mass destruction you would not be able to leverage these into world domination.

Robotics? Giant mecha would be useless in taking over the world. There size would make each one a vulnerable target and so expensive that you would struggle to build even one of them.

Your best bet would be smaller robots... specifically nanosized ones. Self replicating nanorobotics would be able to take over the world weapons and communications. You would also be able to build millions of cheap soldier robots to enforce your evil will.

Your going to need physics and engineering to get those nanorobots up and running.

Most scienists become mad at a slightly old age (over 50) .. that is because they need to have a huge set of skills for them to become mad and successful.

Protip: Go for Biology/Genetics first and find immortality, if you got that covered you can pretty much do anything you want. Immortality is imba
