Math is the easiest STEM field. because it makes sense.

I feel ya. I get the math in proofs and practice problems, but applying it to real world problems in new ways is really hard.

Math is an extraction of logic, and logic an extraction of math. The for it is fair to assume it has the same weaknesses as a language. A slightly alteration and or misunderstanding of one single term can lead to devastating results.

Also math such a hard form of abstraction, that it is impossible to detect logic falsity. How can you at an certain point in math know that you created an circle reasoning. You cant.

100% this. unlike
>you have to write a 15 page essay WITH SOURCES about why white people are evil and diversity is our strength
like where do you even pretend to begin

But that's not STEM

this anon understands what's goin on, the etymology of logic comes from the greek "logos" and logos basically means the "logic of language" or the logic behind words, in general is used to mean "logic" or just "word"

I totally understand what OP is saying, math is a beautiful language in its own realm but wierdly enough the "absolute proof" of math is kinda sketchy... almost like proving God or something...

It's more like because math is straightforward
Other fields you gotta jump through a lot of hoops and do a whole bunch of BS
Math you just sit down and solve some puzzles basically

This.
Only stupid undergrads and filthy engineers think that math is easier because "it makes sense".

Sometimes you aren't even sure about the definition of what you're trying to understand.

it's simple really, don't go to gradschool.

I'm sorry correct me if I'm wrong but is logic really the same as language? Language will always be ambiguous, it's an innate part of language, but is logic ambiguous?

Algebraic topology is the first “oh shit” class after a while since the people who understand basic proof forms are now faced with objects whose definitions don’t necessarily inform you about their nature - you proceed largely by intuition even when you’re diagram chasing

Math just means applying your IQ. It's fun but mostly abstract mental
masturbation and hence not very useful. You are being guided by your definitions and theorems like a toddler. Nothing is uncertain, everything is either true or false and most of the time you don't have to worry whether you missed something important.

In engineering on the other hand you are immediately confronted with real life problems. Constantly new parameters are popping up and surprise you since you never thought of them before. Solutions are not derived by simple logical deductions. They require actual creativity.

Both are creative in their own way. Math is creative in an abstract way and engineering (and physics) in a material way. I think the smartest people appreciate the skills of both. Personally I enjoy math due to the abstraction but I have much respect for engineers/physicists who can translate those abstractions to the material world and build useful things for society.

Logic is a system with which you can determine the falsity or correctness, of anything which was spoken. You can imagine it as a meta-grammatic.
Mathematics is a system whit which you can determine the quantity of quality's which was spoken about. Is also a kind of meta grammatic.

* but the qualities, can be only determinate by empiric data.
