Imagine if this were a measurement of physical performance. Some people are specialized in long distance running, others in swimming or throwing. But you would see a correlation between these fields when studying populations, which you could roughly call fitness. Now if you are a professional swimmer, why would you be discouraged if a test evaluating general fitness told you you were average, because of average score in running, sprinting, throwing etc

I've always wanted be be far more intelligent than I likely am. Partly it's due to vanity, but I also want to be able to access the higher level interpretations of art and reality that a greater intellect could provide. I scored 134 on a mensa test a couple of years back. I scored 123 on this one. Judging by a few of the other replies, 123 seems to be near the top of what you can hope to score here. I think this is because they are aware of how limited the breadth of the questions is and it would be disingenuous to imply you are any higher if you manage to answer the relative questions they pose. That being said, IQ is a thoroughly imperfect predictor of academic or financial success. I've always been described as gifted, but have consistently suffered with motivation and procrastination. Only recently have I started addressing these things and have seen progress in my life. Being able to pick up things quickly means nothing if you have a fucked up reward system that sees any sustained effort as unbearable, and any low-level entertainment as reward. Instead of obsessing over IQ, obsess over ways to improve your productivity and work ethic, thats what really matters in the long-run anyways. Measuring IQ is just letting your ego and vanity take control of you.
