Why does a bottle of coke cool down in the fridge much faster if you first open the bottle (even without taking any)?

>> No.1207534

Fuck.

>> No.1207538

Because the cold are doesn't have to cool down the plastic bottle before it starts to cool down the liquid inside.

>> No.1207546

The pressure is lower after you open it.

>> No.1207556

When you break the seal the cold can get in

>> No.1207558

Because opening the bottle lets carbon dioxide gas escape out of solution, and when the gas expands, it cools.

Thus instead of just the fridge doing the cooling, the bottle cools itself too.

Think CO2 fire extinguishers.

the cold are, the cold are, the cold are, the cold are, the cold are

>> No.1207563

Because Coke is pasteurized and the subsequent heat is trapped inside during the bottling process.

You put the lid back on, after you let the pressure equalise. Sorry.
