Will science ever be able to solve the problem that existence is pointless?

>> No.12045892

why is it a problem retard?

>> No.12045897

>>12045886
It's not inherently a scientific problem. it's a human one.
>>12045892
basically this.

because the universe follows cause and effect.
Therefore humanity should not be the only thing in the uinverse not following that law so there should be a point...

>>12045901
Who says we don't follow it?

>> No.12045917

>>12045908

the only theory we currently have is survive and reproduce, so if you follow both of those thats supposed to be a point. But its just a means to something, your species keeps surviving but what is it supposed to ultimately acheive with its existence?

>> No.12045919

>>12045917

cause=survive and reproduce so your species exists to do something
effect=?

>> No.12045920

>>12045917
>supposed to ultimately acheive with its existence?
What makes you think the universe planned before hand?
The idea of "supposed" isn't real. the trust is "just is" "just does"

>> No.12045930

>>12045920

so in other words, with all our IQ, all our discoveries, all of human thought combined over thousands of years, we still cannot find a single reason or purpose to exist?
it just is a random pointless thing

Looking for something you assumed to exist with no evidence or even a hint for it, while everything else tends to point away from that conclusion.
Yes.

Well, we first must find the true origin and full detailed history of life. So far as it seems to me, our existence has meaning of securing existence of eukaryotic chromosomes or something in our cells.

>Talking yourself into irrelevance is not a profound critique of Being. It's a cheap trick of the rational mind. Standards of better or worse are not illusory or unnecessary.
Regardless of how you feel about Peterson as a whole, this is a decent take.

It didn't mean to continue to exist, it just existed because you need to be able to exist to exist, thus it just simply happened to continue due to it's effectiveness, thus why things that are dog shit mechanisms at existing no longer exist. Stop anthropomorphizing lesser life.

Your Ego needs meaning to decide what to do. Why do something pointless after all.
Your tiny little brain has this need just like it wants other things.
Then your Ego bloats. You think you are really though and have influence all throughout the univers thats why suddenly you need meaning in this scope. Thats where you need to start to cope.

To Illustrate my point. Go to a 3 year old and let hin ask you "why? ". Idk for about a day. Then you will realise there cannot be ultimate meaning and you are dumber than a stupid stupid child.

Your own experience. The human brain constantly assigns comparative value to every decision it encounters. Improving your life may or may not be a purpose in and of itself, but it inherently improves your own existence, which is reason enough to pursue it.

We do follow that law, we're a mere mass of biological shit that was caused by some other biological shit evolving over time. There you have it, cause and effect. Who says effect has to make sense or be something useful, we're trash

>Your own experience.
stupidest shit I've ever heard.
>The human brain constantly assigns comparative value to every decision it encounters
didn't answer anything.
> Improving your life may or may not be a purpose in and of itself
nice language.
We're talking about the point/purpose/meaning of life.
>but it inherently improves your own existence
and what tool do you use to measure that? and what's it's exact measure? and this "improve" how is it mathematically defined? also what is improve?
>which is reason enough to pursue it.
jumping the gun.
>durr assumption
>if assumption is true apply retarded conclusion that is self gratifying and not objectively relevant universally, thus I should do it.
you should shut the fuck up because hearing stupid devalues the quality of my life, and thus if you don't I will shut you up myself with my cock deep in your mouth, because at that point we've already established we have no respect for each other.

As long as you define it as pointless, it's pointless. If you define it as meaningful, it's meaningful. You may understand this once you graduate high school.

For something to have a point, it must have intent. Whether existence has meaning is contingent on the idea that existence has an intention - that is if existence was created with an intention in mind - or put differently, the idea of a God having made existence with a purpose. To say that existene is pointless is essentially a declaration of nihilistic atheism, an ideology I would argue is rather self-contradictory, as it describes meaning as being ultimate and final, that meaning is only derived from the end product. In religion this idea makes perfect sense as meaning is found in the afterlife, but without religion, the idea of ultimate meaning really causes unecessary depression. It is much better to shift your view from one whuch focuses on ultimate meaning to one that focues on contemporary meaning, meaning in the present. For something to matter it must be finite, rather than infinite. There is only one Mona Lisa, and the fact that there is only one is why it is valuable. Value is the result of scarcity. For without scarcity, without limits, then nothing has true value, and that's when it's truly pointless. I guess what I'm trying to say is... life is what you make of it, stop being such a doomer.

water has a very clear purpose, it is always trying to get to the lowest point it possibly can.
Water will last until the end of the universe, it is indestructable so its simple purpose is just to get as low as possible.

>> No.12052914

You can always try reproducing to laugh and make it someone else's problem. It's kinda like bullying someone after you got bullied. It won't make it better but it certainly can make you feel better.
