Is the universe eternal?
If so, does that mean we've gone through all of what we're doing already right now an infinite amount of times?
How does this bear on what we know so far about cosmology?

>> No.12011401

If true, it will probably be the last thing we glean about the universe through cosmology.

Well the physical universe isn't eternal. If it was you'd need miracles to stop all the stars from dying out

>> No.12011535

>>12011453
Wouldn't it just all eventually reset and start again?

O God, can you imagine? I don't think the big contraction makes sense. How could time go backwards?

if it’s infinite in any way it doesn’t follow that everything happens.
the magnitude of possible universes can still be higher than the magnitude of actual ones.

no, all matter would eventually become non interacting or separated space-like.
The rest of the energy will become isolated photons.

Yes, density formation negates dissipation of local energies.

Hopefully it ends and nothing will exist. Eternal silence and peace

This is what people get wrong about infinity.
There could be infinite universes where you are unique and live only once

Not OP.
Bros, how do I stop being such a bitch? Every year I have some type of Nihilistic phase when I re-realize that Life is meaningless and shit; I've gone to a lot of therapist but now I tried working alone and It migth be that I have the biggest Ego ever thanks to a low self-esteem.
I just want to be able to Mind my own business and Be amazed, not scared at the Stars like the /SFG/Bros.

Don't listen to men when they say your perfect. None of us are. If you know that most people including yourself are full of it sometimes you'll have better relationships.

I feel you anon but keep this in mind: just because there isn’t a meaning to life doesn’t mean life is meaning less. We are all fighting a war against entropy with every breath we take. Have kids. Educate yourself. Discover and share your wisdom with others.

I know that, life has the meaning we assign to it and that Something doesn't has to be perpetual to be valuable, but I'm having trouble believing it.

Is not the raising entropy of the universe preventing that any event would happen again as exactly the same?

>> No.12012919

>>12012761
If the universe is infinite in expanse, it should work out despite rising entropy.
Remember: Our night sky is probably only mostly dark, since it's been practically no time since the start of time.

Instead of letting your subconscious fear of death overwhelm you with anxiety, perhaps your nihilism would be better served to make the most of your life while you're still around to be conscious and value something.
