Where can a poorfag go to learn about quantum physics? I'm looking for something that actually covers the math, not popsci garbage

You have any particular recommendations? Most of the books I find end up just talking about the concepts without any of the math. They're meant for people with a passing interest in it that just want to be able to repeat things so that they sound smarter, rather than actually understanding it

Do you actually have the prerequisites for properly learning it? You can't just pick up a book that explains it exactly like how you ask and expect to understand even a fraction of it. The best you could get right now with any book is a poor qualitative understanding of the subject.

Thanks for the responses. I have to head to work but I'll read over the thread when I get back

I'll look into it, thanks

Not sure. I took calc a while back and did good but I might have to brush up on it. I don't know a lot of actual physics though. I made my way through some of a physics textbook a long time ago, but I've forgotten most of it. What I'm thinking is that I try to study it, and if I'm missing too much to make sense of it I'll go over whatever the gaps in my knowledge are.

If you attempt to learn quantum mechanics by recursively learning the prerequisite to something you don't know, you will never make any progress. Just google the Schrodinger equation if you want to see what I mean. Calculus is not enough, and there's absolutely no point in learning quantum mechanics if you don't know 90% of classical physics already.

pick up griffiths intro to quantum mechanics
you'll need multivariable calculus and basic understanding of statistics (at least probability distributions) as a prerequisite
