I can see it being true at least on an intuitive level. Planning for future is something that is correlated with intelligence and while I do think the most womanizing chads in existence are probably some hyper intelligent psychopaths the vast majority of cheating comes down to bad decisions, impulsivity and just letting your dick do the thinking which are traits lower IQ people have.

Men are far more likely to engage in infidelity than women are. Women don't benefit nearly as much from it as men and are far more likely to lose social status from doing so than men are.
