Everything was predatory back then,all that mattered was survival. Also I think the fact humans raped female neanderthals says a lot. They cared for their elderly so a ruthless savage is not accurate.

Genetic Depression apparently comes from neanderthal genetics too. So if anything they were depressed.

Other than that some neanderthal groups were probably far more aggressive than others. I mean which Neanderthals are we talking about the Mountain dwellers of Italy, the plain stalkers of NA and Middle East, the desert cave dwellers, the Eurasian part human mixes, The Asiatic Neanderthals?

Neanderthals are gone, and we're still here. If anything, we were their boogeymen. We hunted them, not the other way around. And there's actually some data to support that statement, as our ancestors were on a higher trophic level than just about anything ever tested for n15 isotopes. The official explanation for that is homo sapiens ate a lot of fish, the aquatic ape theory, but I don't buy it. I think we were simply so goddamned predatory, we ate the fucking predators as well.
