Don't know specifically about homeopathy but naturopathy is just as legit as traditional medicine with a much longer history of experimentation and use. I cant count the amount of times a doctor tried me to buy his expensive pills when I did some simple research and found a natural and much cheaper alternative that did the exact same thing.

Because it managed to gain ground and influence in academia despite how shit it is. In my country, we still have a public, internationally recognized uni that teaches homoeopathy, both as a general requirement for medical surgeons, and as a specilaity, and the goverment supports it. I suppose is difficult to tell people that what they have learned is basically useless and most people already know.
