Will I be able from there to read things from the entry to university level engineering, physics and maths books ?

Nah , Calculus first. At least high school level calculus. I don't know if you're taught calculus in American high schools though.

These charts are for dawdling idiots and CS majors. He doesn't need to do most of this shit. One book on Calc with proofs is enough to get started. There are only two good analysis textbooks. From there you have to decide if you care about advanced mathematics.

Is Basic Mathematics by Serge Lang the best book for "basic mathematics"?

>> No.11876444

No. You should just read Spivak, it will be like pulling teeth but it is the superior way.

Learning general abstract algebra before you know linear algebra is definitely a bad idea
The concepts of homomorphisms, quotients, etc are quite hard to understand at first, but in vector spaces it's a lot easier and things are much better visualised

>> No.11876466

>>11876441
In other words, that list is useful for CS majors who want to increase their math skills because it focuses on the the math most required in CS. )

I'm currently doing James Stewart precalculus.
Is it good enough for studying high school math, i'm trying to learn back to have a better understanding on it. Also im trying the Dennis Velleman's proof book, any opinion on this book too?

I've seen different people saying Practical Electronics has potentially life threatening mistakes in more than one place, why don't the idiots behind these charts go through the work of at least reading a couple reviews?

>> No.11877802

>>11876832
Stewart can be useful because of its many exercises, but whether there's a better choice or not depends on your goals, time availability and so forth. I'd say Stewart is the safest choice.

Daniel Velleman's book is a good one.

Terrible recommendation. Start with a high-level language like Python or Java and move to lower-level languages as you learn more advanced concepts like memory management and bitwise operations.
