Question. So I've been planning on studying computer engineering to be a software dev and I just transferred to university and given my schools curriculum ComE vs CS I realized that if I switch to CS I have one full semester to study abroad anywhere, studying whatever the fuck I want. When I think of studying ComE the reasons for it are basically prestige and engineering stuff just seems a bit cooler but now that I have the ability to spend 4 whole months in like Tokyo, Shanghai or Hong Kong or some shit really makes me consider just switching to CS. If I study ComE I will not be able to study abroad.

I don't know, I think being able to live in a cool ass city for 4 months is a once in a life time experience. I'm honestly torn between the two almost evenly. What you guys think?

Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore or Vietnam is a good choice if you want nice city.
Unless you enjoy the city, you'll hate Tokyo.
You should def take up the offer. It's a once in a lifetime offer. Just read up on where you are going and don't be a spaz.

Why do people think I'll hate Tokyo? I feel like I'll probably choose a Chinese city since I'm self-studying Mandarin.

What you mean don't be a spaz?

US. English but I'm 1 year into learning Mandarin and by the time I would go I'd have at least 2-3 years down. Asian/White

I assume you are not japanese/white, but chinese or some other asian? Japanese will look down on you. I'd suggest just stay in the USA.

I don't give a flying fuck if they look down on me or not. Is that what you would do in this situition because "oh no they'll look down on me, im so scared to go". Think about it thats pussy shit

Then go to Taipei and not some dog eating mainland shithole.
Shanghai is definitely one of the coolest cities I've ever been to. Feels like you're in an episode of star trek with an ambiguously asian alien race.
Good food too!

Taiwan isn't an available option. Shanghai is probably my first choice, then Hong Kong.
