So, simply, energy is U (everything, aka infinity) multiplied in a grid (S). This sounds illogical, but think it through. The universe is infinite at all points. Line those points up, and the difference between each point (the comparative magnitudes) are what we detect as energy.

This is why the only remaining question is, what equation dictates the comparative magnitudes? i.e., why is space "lumpy"...

Why is space "lumpy". why isn't energy completely consistent across all space? So, this is according to the latest rantings coming out of optimum theory so take with a grain of salt (as you should all theories desu), but it goes like this:

The universe has a total energy value of zero. We suspect that for a number of reasons, but the easiest to understand is that the only way infinity can exist is if it "costs" nothing. So the universe must have an equal measure of positive and negative energy. But the Universe can only sense locally, so how does it know that it is only producing positives and negatives equally? Because it always produces positives and negatives in pairs. In a grid this looks like +1 -1 +1 -1 infinitely. These +1 and -1 pairs are the true U. Each is a Universe in the multiverse. These are just words, universe, multiverse, and there is nothing preventing you from traveling into another "universe" other than the truly insane distance. Because of symmetry principle, these Universes expand outward and inward as spheres. The +1 and -1 universes would annihilate if they ever met. +1 is simply an abstraction, as is -1 and these are infinitely fractionable and infinitely deep. You can zoom in and out essentially forever, but it is particle like at all scales, i.e. self similar. The Universe is approaching a limit of a perfect grid of -1 +1 at all scales, perhaps there is even some moment where that occures before everything starts mixing again, idk.
