Psychologists think of mental illnesses on basis of whatever they feel like, every now and again they agree to change definitions for some mental illnesses or they suddenly decide that some mental illness is not a mental illness anymore. nobody assumes some dumb girl has ADHD because statistically it's very unlikely. ADHD is far more common as a result of male related biological processes and is also part of what gives males hyper focus in some pursuits, hence why, like autism, attempts are being made to pretend there are as many females as males represented with the disorder(s). pozzed comic OP, do better. just do better

I think it's real and it's rare. You will rarely even hear about ADHD outside the United States unless you personally know somebody who was clinically diagnosed. Unfortunately in the United States, it has become an excuse to get high on ritalin similar to "back pain" for people with medical MJ cards. So most people who claim to have it don't, and the small minority of people with actual ADHD get ostracized even more because of this common association "lazy=ADHD". It's more like "lazy[eqn]\subseteq[/eqn]ADHD"

I’d say it’s real. I have a friend diagnosed with ADD and trying to have even a simple conversation with him takes a lot of effort, he’ll easily go on a string of tangents if you let him. And he’s certainly not lazy, he works hard towards his interests and is driven, but he struggles to build up any momentum to be truly productive before he switches to work on something else.
