Yeah dude you can get a high paying IT job with a math degree. Almost all of the infosec jobs I apply for either say "IT, CS, or math degree required" or just "stem degree required".
All of those certs require work experience to be fully certified otherwise you're just someone who passed the exam and if you try to say you're fully certified when not you can be reported to the ethics board of the governing body and get blackballed.
Study for Security+ and possibly CySA+ and land a job in security and once you have a job start studying for one of those 3. Also Security+ covers many topics covered by those 3 certs, so you won't be learning everything for the first time.

Honestly if you have the shit to back up what you can do I don't think it's going to be a problem. If HR throws you out because you're a physics major it's probably a shitty company. Here in the US we have DoD requirements for some jobs. So take a company like Raytheon or Lockheed, they don't give a fuck what you majored in as long as you have the cert to meet DoD standards.
I took a screen shot of the Information Assurance Technical tiers because they're the more entry level role. Get Security+ ASAP.
I got my Security+ after only studying for 18 days, and this makes me eligible for Level II jobs. Security+ is the easiest cert to get Level II eligibility.

I've interacted very little with physics people. I would guess the rate of people with inferiority complexes in physics is similar to the general population. I've in general only met a few people like that in my life. They spanned all sorts of academic disciplines. One thing that seems constant is that people tend to think everyone else is stupid and they're of above average intelligence. Academics are pretty bad for this but I've also seen it in my trades friends, and friends who fucked off their early twenties etc. Everyone thinks they have a solid perspective on things.

For CS there's the obvious application of logic which began with Philosophy. But as with Maths if you sit in on CS lectures about Systems and Low Level Computing you'll often hear concepts that have been taken from Plato (who's influence is also seen in Maths and Physics). But more than that Philosophy trains you to understand the ability to abstract and communicate on a heightened linguistic level. Man's mind can only understand ideas which language can express and Philosophy develops the ability of a person to precisely communicate ideas in a verbal form, Maths is another tool for this, hence the study of both of these subjects (which actually influence one another and blend well together) is in my opinion the best combination of subjects. If I had my way, secondary education would be entirely devoted to these two subjects with tertiary education being reserved for a further specialisation such as Physics or CompSci.

undergrad physics is ok, but you're neither as mathematically mature as math majors nor as immediately useful as engineering majors, so you're in this weird interim where nobody cares about you right after undergrad. With a math major, I found it a lot easier to jump into physics since I only focused on the physics, not the algebra or functional analysis that stressed out a lot of my peers.

With that mindset you won't be able to find a job in any field.
Physicists are good at handling data and doing math, hence they make better programmers than CS grads. You can also get virtually any job since a physics degree proves your high IQ which makes some recruiters hard, even if it is an engineering job but they are tired of yet another engineer applying

programming and handling data are two different skills, but regardless why are we comparing physicists, ie PhD holders, to people who hold an undergrad degree? I've seen atrocious code from many majors but none second to EE and physics people.
> You can also get virtually any job since a physics degree proves your high IQ which makes some recruiters hard
there are opportunities for physics PhD's but it's universally accepted that most jobs people study in undergrad for are not open to PhD's. When you do a PhD in any mathematical stem subject, you open yourself to quant, finance, research, and research engineering positions. but you close off a lot of the places interested in "yet another engineer applying" because oftentimes that other engineer has a resume full of relevant experience

A big part of it is project and team management, while the math aspects are mostly handled by the computer (because of volume, not difficulty).

I'm not there yet, but I know that the more I climb the ladder, the more managerial my job is going to be.

Not complicated at all but they'll likely have you take 3 or so undergraduate courses. I didn't take engineering courses before so the most difficult part was mechanical knowledge. Here is an example of what I'm talking about
