Which will be an actual thing first /sci/, quantum computers or nuclear fusion reactors?
Which one do you want to see more?

quantum computers are already here, but suck ass. Low noise quantum computers that are actually useful are decades away. Fusion will probably happen first. I want to see fusion more.

Fusion is the road to post-scarcity.

Quantum computers are a fucking meme. Cars powered by water have been a favorite of free energy crackpots since long before the internet but that could become a reality.

both technologies exist already...
look up Wendestein 7x and ITER...

fusion is more important

fusion already exists for billions of years, just leave your quarantine basement, put your mask and your sunglasses on and there it is up in the sky
ans while you are at it, put some solar panels for your roof and you got fusion power

Is it though? Fuel cost isn't a problem in modern nuclear power plant.

quantum computers since research can progress way faster on them. it's much easier to push a field forward if you can have thousands of groups building them worldwide rather than multinational organizations needing to collaborate just to build one
