The theory of multiples intelligences is real.

I have top 5% global IQ (125-130), but I score bottom 5% on my musical IQ (65-70).

so I know at the same time what is like to be smarter than the general population (I live in a spic country where the average is 85), but at the same time I also know what is to have the same intelligence as a mentally retarded person.

And It's scary to think to live with such really low IQ, It's like if you couldn't even understand the basic shit you would need to even function as a not even a sucesful person with a college degree.

Like I couldn't enjoy music, not even popular radio music, like I could only enjoy like the most catchy and most easily memorable melodies, like melodies that were like twinkle twinkle little stars, like you can only enjoy crappy newgrounds trance music on youtube, like the most popular songs of linkin park.

Like anything higher than the most basic and low IQ popular music, was simply beyond my even understanding.

I can't even imagine how it would be living that way if that were my normal IQ.
I don't think I could even have a normal life, like I would struggle with technology.
I would not even be able to use a computer.

It's really scary to think there's people that live like that.
It's like being closer to a dog than a normal person.

can confirm, every time I've ever tried studying music they start talking about chords and tones and progressives and no matter how many times I've heard it explained I still don't understand what any of those are or why they matter.

Dude the lessons they teach are dumb. All of the music foundations are based on math and physics (chromatic scale, the cycle, chords, etc.). But for some reasons, none of the tutorial and resource online have a good explanation about what the fuck they are and why they are that way.
Why is C minor includes these nodes? What is tonal key? What's a perfect fifth?
There is just no fucking good explanation because they don't actually understand the underlying math and physics that well (and they have no need to to compose) so they just memorize it.

I have great hearing, and I'm pretty sure that test is impossible to make without extemsive musical education. For example the initial test tests you if you can tell the difference between 'the same' tunes in different keys and tunes which had some notes changed, which is something you just won't be able to do eithout excellent knowledge of musical theory.

That can be practice, just like the IQ test, so don't sweat over it.

And I have no musical knowledge, I just do the test by instinct. Fuck if I know what is chord and key. You can train to be not tone deaf and rythm impaired without knowing all the technical stuff.

More people than you think are smart enough to meet their basic needs and be happy. Think about it, almost every body you see on a daily basis has some kind of job, some kind of social network, a place to stay, etc. The unwashed masses you think live like dogs are in the minority, and they exist, but even they find a way to meet their needs, their standards of living much lower, but they survive, and some even find niches and thrive, some even live fulfilling lives. It's important to remember that even stupid people are still humans, and deserve respect for just getting through the daily grind.

I feel like music can be learned though. I pretty much listen to almost no music and don't play an instrument nowadays. When I was in junior high I picked up guitar very quickly, faster than peers. I stopped though. I scored 90 on this. If I was sitting there listening to and playing music again it would be higher.

Are you serious? I scored a 139 last time I took it back in 9th grade (haven't checked since) and even until now I still think I'm an idiot compared to other people regarding general intelligence

That test is just how much you listen to music/pay attention to it. Someone who plays music is obviously gonna know how different keys and pitches sound better and to keep a beat better.

I remember there was another music iq test from awhile back I took. It played a melody and then you had to match the melody to a pattern. That seems more like the proper way to test musical iq. This is more of a musical "skills" test and a hearing test.

What is that? Like how well youu can hear? I scored high on IQ test once but hen when I couldn't discern the oaky tones in the fruity earthiness of this wine I tasted, it meant I was olfactorily retarded and disqualified from actual real intelligence. </s>
