Determinism is something that i'm able to observe on a daily basis. Prove it's wrong in a way that i can fact check myself.

I might, or might not. it's up to my whim. you cannot decide that.

If you're talking about determinism in the free will sense then yes. If you're talking about determinism in the hard, newtonian sense then probably no, see quantum physics.

I wouldn't make a thread on /sci/ if i wasn't familiar with the arguments people usually have against determinism. So people are unable to find the cause behind the behavior of some subatomic particles, so that means there is none? That's not something i can fact check myself.

>> No.11758980

>>11758954
yes, the behavior of subatomic particles has been shown to be entirely probabilistic
I agree free will does not exist however

>the behavior of subatomic particles has been shown to be entirely probabilistic
No it hasn't, that's the thing, it's only been shown that nothing we tried to manipulate their behavior has worked. And that still isn't something i can fact check myself, as i don't have means to observe subatomic particles (let alone experiment on them). It's outside of my scope just like how the cause of their behavior is outside of humanity's scope.

indeterminism is something I'm able to observe on a daily basis
examples: weather, outcome of coin tosses, dice rolls, stock prices, world events
it should be easy for determinists to prove me wrong since all you have to do is accurately and consistently predict this week's lottery numbers or next week's headlines. Should be pretty easy since it's pre-determined, right?

It's determined by events that are outside of our control but it's still determined.
