The Jewish WMD's Christianity and Islam would have been / would be entirely powerless, they wouldn't be able to hold any power over people's lives, if the people knew they already had eternal life.

Does eternal life mean you could still die from injuries? Cause if so I'd guess everyone would be super fucking cautious since what's at stake is eternity.

The Scythe series of books postulates that functional immortality would require a discipline of people whose job it is to randomly glean people in order to prevent over-consumption of resources.

>social implications
This isn't a very scientific question, so you're forcing us to devolve to psuedoscientific guesswork. Fine by me. I assume that society would slow down, as the "old guard" in universities, politics, and everywhere never dies off. This isn't neccesarily a bad thing, but it's easy to see how it could be bad. Those boomers with their outdated physics theories you want dead? Too bad, they're not gonna die of old age any time soon, you're gonna be forced to pretent to believe their bullshit physics textbooks are still accurate. Doesn't matter how well you disprove their ancient theories, they write the rules, they write the checks, they're the head of the department, and you're just a child, what could you ever know? Those corrupt politicians? Don't worry, they're here forever. Maybe with enough time, those in charge figure out ""what"" is behind all our problems and refuses to go along with it any more.
