Everyone is making fun of this new military branch given that its only responsibility right now is to protect satellites remotely.

Given enough time, what could this branch look like in the future? Space force marines peacekeeping Moon and Mars colonies? Military space station with capabilities to drop anywhere in the world?

Hopefully but realistically drones are already proving superior to manned fighter aircraft so likely SpaceForce will forever be desk jockey drone operators and cyberwar hackers.

This will make up the bulk of future warfare however so that's not playing them down. They don't need Space Force infantry etc as the Army and Marines will still exist to be Orbital drop shocktroopers in Space Force drone pods.

Really? That's all they do? That is actually fucking hilarious, especially considering that the only satellite even equipped with a gun was Russian. More like Space Farce amirite?

Once anti gravity is discovered, no branch of government is going to control shit. Until then they will probably pretend to be doing something by using bottle rockets to bread and circus the populous Elon Musk style. There will probably be some weenie-hut-junior styled ISS "space base" where they can have their super secret advanced bubble blowing and twirling shit around experiments.

Donald Trump should have just changed the Air Force's name to the Aerospace Force. Mllions of dollars saved.

It will help fund future space tech that NASA can't really justify for their missions

I'm hoping we get some debris blasting lasers or missiles out of this to start with

Space ships that can disentigrate debris, force fields

Science? But, we're talking about a space warfare branch of the United States Military. If I am to base this new branch based on the service of previous branches, I can expect unnecessary random explosion tests in space soon and ridiculously overpriced budgets that will make NASA and Space X look like hotdog stands. For what? Bottle rockets? Rust: the planet? Acid: the planet? "Never get there": the planet you'll maybe see one day in the window of your cryotube? Fucking boring. Why wage war in space when the source of the retards is right here on Earth? This entire thread belongs on >>>/pol/ as far as I'm concerned.

Exactly like the Air Force: piloting drones from a shipping container in New Mexico except the drones will be in Space.

Not how it works though. They don’t exactly try to allocate resources for efficiency believe it or not. See the SEALs. But this is a complete fantasy either way. As much as I want this to happen, it won’t.

What if the plan is not just to have them be satellite traffic cops but to replace NASA and there was a reason it had to be the DoD?
