because gravity acts on all things indiscriminately, electromagnetic interaction is between positive and negative. Unless you say the earth has a positive charge, and every other object has a negative charge, but that's ridiculous. It would also mean all object repulse each other.

There is something called the dipole force. In the presence of a strong electric field, materials will tend to separate their positive and negative a little bit, and this causes a force. But the problem, this force is 1/r^3 instead of 1/r^2. Also we would know if the earth had a huge electric field, because it would bend the path of charged particles. I doubt your TV would work properly with a scanning electron gun in that case. Furthermore objects attraction to the earth would not depend on mass, since charge is independent of mass

Infact, the reason lightning exists is that opposing charges in the earth and in the storm formations want to cancel, hence when the disequilibrium between them is high enough, you will see that lightning almost always strikes from both directions- lightning trails rise from the surface to meet incoming lightning from the clouds.
this has nothing to do with gravity though, electro magnetism is pure force, so in essence you can say there is no gravity, or that gravity and EM are the same thing.
