its /sci/ meme, no way complex numbers are taught in high school.
half of those high school books were subjects in my university graduate program.

It is beneath the dignity of excellent men to waste their time in calculation when any peasant could do the work just as accurately with the aid of a machine.

I keep hearing both sides
One side says that anybody can plug an equation into wolfram alpha
The other side says that you need to know the math if you want to understand physics equations

I wouldn't be able to handle it for more than a day.
At some point, probably within the first hour, I would grab her by her hand, and take her torwards the emergency staircase, there i would push her to her knees and pull her milkers out, and start thrusting myself into her open bewildered mouth, after around 15... no, make that 14 thrusts, i would fill her vocal cords with so much semen, that she would choke a little, with her eyes locked with mine i grab the back of her head and thrust myself inside her mouth one last time with my eyes closed. Then as I open my eyes, I realize tyrone from cell block 1 is standing outside the cell door, waiting for his turn with Jerry the accountant who ran over some girl while drunk driving. Yeah, don't be Jerry, don't drink and drive.

can you elaborate on "taught" what exactly do you do with complex numbers without complex analysis? Or perhaps you meant you study complex analysis in highschool as well?

Mathematics is not a spectator sport. The best way to learn math is by doing math. You should dedicate most of your studying time to solving problems, instead of, let's say, reading textbooks.
Of course, you can't learn just by solving problems. That's where textbooks, videos and lectures come in. Now, not everyone learns the same way, and I think that's an important thing that you must keep in mind. I know people who hate textbooks, I know people who can't learn for shit with lectures, I know people who can only learn with textbooks, and there are many other types of people out there. You'll have to find out what works the best for you. Even when choosing textbooks, I think it is ideal for you to try out multiple textbooks and see which one you like the most, instead of just asking "what's the best textbook for X?". For a good amount of things, such as Calculus and Linear Algebra, Khan Academy does the job if you like videos.
I don't know what's your level of education, what you want to learn math for, or anything, but it's safe to recommend you to start with Calculus. Even if you aren't perfectly comfortable with high school level math, you'll learn it on the fly while studying Calc.
There's also one very good YT channel called 3Blue1Brown. You should definitely check it out.

Last, but not least important, this is the best coffee post I've seen in ages. I can't stop looking at the pic.

Not him.

I had complex numbers in high school too. The teacher told us about i being the square root of minus one, about numbers having imaginary roots, all this kind of thing. Then we had arithmetic operations with complex numbers, and that's it.

Senior year high school, i was taking linear algebra and multivariable calculus. Yes, we did know about complex numbers. In fact, I think we learn it in pre-calc, which was like sophmore year. euler's identity and shit.

Burgerfag btw. Not gonna say where in. Nice suburb though. Also, simply passingby, dont respond to this

Currently writing a book on how to learn mathematics for people who struggled with high school maths and dropped out early, and want to get to that early calculus stage of readiness.

No one really addressed the "how" and "why" everybody should attempt to get there.

OP, ultimately what you need is a curriculum with specific learning goals as to where you want to go, what you want to do with the maths that you learn.
