Hypothetically speaking, is there a way to store an infectious sample of a disease for a couple of years or so and have it still be infectious afterward?
Asking for a friend

Yes but I'm trying to store the disease outside my body, Ideally in a way that prevents anyone from getting infected until I want them to.

I mean that my friend wants to do this, of course.

Store HIV in your friend.

It's not HIV he's trying to store, so that wont help them
It is a virus, but it only stays in a living host for 2-4 weeks at most, which is why it needs to be stored somewhere that isn't a human body

For anyone who is interested, google says snap freeze viruses and keep them at -80C to store long term.
