Common opinion: Mankind is doomed because everybody is driving hummers and big screen teevees and they live with their parents and THE COMMUNISTS ARE TAKING OVER ARRGGHHGH

Reality: Mankind has never been as resourceful, adaptable and peaceful in its existence as it is today.

I'm glad we are facing these 'challenges' today, when we have the resources, technology and communicative networks to actually begin tackling them. Because, compared to the challenges we faced before with the technology/knowledge we had, these 'challenges' are trivial.

Money is irrelevant. Shelter, food, clean water and peaceful relations are the only truly relevant factors. And, if you think its been any better in any period of history for any nontrivial group of humans, then you are a fool.
