Someone once told me that Iran used to 'legendary' in science like thousands of years ago. Is that true?

I haven't heard of this but even if it is true why would it matter?

Just curious to know what they did and how they managed to do it.

Thousands in plural is pre Islamic age, and you get into the reason why the name is Iran. It means the land of the Aryans. Seriously, look it up. That was about the only thing the shah and the ayatollahs could agree on. And most things about Aryans, even if they existed, is mythical.

The term 'science' didn't even exist until Newton

Iran had a golden age around the time of Muhammed, yes

Iran was called Persia till very recently.
So yes they did their part.

We would be better off if the intellectual centers of the world went full stalin and ruthlessly purged political opposition. Instead intellectuals tend to be less violent and they get conquered by retards because they made the mistake that they can be reasoned with.

What is optics, chemistry, and algorithms? All of these invented in the muslim world.

>> No.11598543

Man, I wish I used to 'legendary' in science. Like, that would have been rad. Like, totally.

with a democratic government, Iran would be a respected world power on par with France. It's a shame they're being cucked by their government because they have a culture of poetry and sensitivity that I have a great deal of respect for.

they didn't invent any of those things. algorithms have been around since before islam, even if they are named after an arab, and optics and chemistry were around forever as well, obviously.

Great job moving the goalposts so that all "inventions" cannot be attributed to anyone except the prehistoric man who first formed coherent thoughts. Don't be a vagina and let your modern western conception of Arabic culture to blind you to the fact that there was many hundreds of years where it was the pinnacle of civilization.

you retards must be joking. algorithms most definitely predate the islamic golden age, along with chemistry and optics. i dont mean to be a party pooper, but the islamic golden age would have resulted in a big goose egg if they didn't have ancient greece to pilfer from :(

"Algorithms" as they exist now, in a formal sense, were not invented until very recently. Naming them after a guy who wrote a book about numbers was just a gesture of good will and respect. Don't besmirch that with your xenophobia.

Every scientist and mathematician use the already known knowledge to expand/discover/invent new things
Nobody (except for autists) starts from scratch, everyone continue from where the former men of science ended
>algorithms most definitely predate the islamic golden age, along with chemistry and optics
Making a flat mirror and a discovering the law of reflection (by measurement) is not optic. Writing a book about lenses and curved mirrors and mathematically describing law of refraction is Optic
Same for chemistry
Bunch of half assed experiments here and there don't make someone the "father of [some field]", otherwise you can also count Issac Newton as a chemist

Nero had a lens, obviously optics.
Black powder and paper making was invented in China well before that.
Algorithms for division was used in ancient Egypt.

Essentially noting you wrote was correct.

>>11598852
Garbage.

>>11599037
