Y axis is number of weekly deaths when X axis is day of the year?

What does weekly deaths on a individual date mean?

>> No.11566594

More or less

Why does it dip at each end of the year?

>> No.11566600

Interesting that there isn't a slight bump in 2010 for the swine flu pandemic. Though overblown would still have had a noticeable impact.

there is also a spike at the beginning of each year, because it's actually "reported deaths" and there are no reports if everybody is at home for Christmas

there were (apparently) only 398 deaths in the UK from swine flu

My guess: weeks always start and end on a specific day such as Sunday, and usually get split in two if January 1st falls on another day such as Wednesday.
