When you are done answer the question
Why cant we build boats or submarines which do not require refursbishing the hulls
Why do these living creatures attach and sabotage our boat materials?

Does your structure have a total average density less than that of water? Is your structure water tight?
Congratulations, if you answered yes to the previous two questions, you have a boat.

Which aspect of boatmaking? A significant amount of it is hands-on craft, a rudimentary and embodied engineering not science.
>>11532717
>Why cant we build boats or submarines which do not require refursbishing the hulls
Salt water is caustic and aggressive and makes things melt if they don't oxidize first. Metals interact with each other in funny ways in the ocean. Hulls build up static charges. Composites show exactly where they are weak or have bad seals by delaminating.
>Why do these living creatures attach and sabotage our boat materials?
Hulls make convenient terrain. Get scraping, squid.
>>11532949
>Can't we make a boat outer hull out of oil or a material which live things won't stick to and salt wond corrode
If epoxy composites won't stop barnacles, it's unreasonable to assume that synthetic rubber would.

Id like to make a hassle free Yacht constructed by robots
First Im gonna make machines to make the robots then make the Yachts and crash that market
A yacht should cost less than a equal sqm house

But all the materials have problems, aluminium, fibreglass, wood, ferrocement.
Mostly looking at ferrocement now
