I am a resident neurosurgeon,ironically enough and I can assure you that the difference between us and orthos is minor,especially when it comes to operations that involve the spine. The orthos might even be better than us at this IF they sub-specialize on the spine; Apart from us,there are quite a few specialities that require a lot of time and brain such as cardiovascular surgery,pneumology,urology...even derma and plastic surgery are quite difficult and the people in those specialities are really smart but we tend to put them in a different field because they don't *technically* save lives.... Family medicine and stuff like that is shit though

that you may have the image of a highly sophisticated and skilled surgeon that outranks all the others but in reality neurosurgeons are quite literally completely unusable on their own
not only do they require microscopes and expensive equipment, they also can't navigate it , build it, repair it, maintain it on their own , if 2-3 key people drop out you can't do anything and have to postpone your operation
the only guys i know that went into neurosurgery went because of the "reputation" that normies have , but the reality is that you probably won't get very skilled by doing neurosurgery

That's a new one,I'll give you that,but here's the thing: most surgical teams need at least two nurses,one anaesthetist,at least one surgeon that deals with the damaged tissue/tumor/blood placket etc. (we usually have two of those though) and someone who deals with bone/skin/tissue reconstruction (ie. a plastic surgeon or an orthopedic surgeon) etc.
That ^ is the standard team and while it is true that we also need neurologists and radiologists who locate the tumor,it just proves how delicate our job is.

realistically i can tell you have probably never performed any operation on your own (and wont for a very long time) , that's just the reality especially for neurosurgery

in other specialties you are much more likely to be able to pick up and hone your skills

and it has nothing to do with delicacy , its just bloat
