>doesn't believe in God
>believes that life exists on other planets despite not knowing what the probability of life beginning is
Can someone explain this concept to me?
Reputable people keeping saying its statistically improbable that life doesn't exist elsewhere but I don't understand where the "statistics" are coming from. Did someone figure out the probability of life beginning behind closed doors or something?

Just think about it, if the universe is half as big as we think it is then its very unlikely we are the only living species on it.

The way you phrase it is wrong. I think it's more like, "It's possible that life can exist somewhere else out in the universe, because so far we can't come up with a probability that there isn't life anywhere else but here."
We don't even know what our probability of life beginning here on Earth was. But it doesn't matter, because we are here now.

Biblical God: illogical, zero probability
life on other planets: plausible, non-zero probability
simple as that, nigger

If you buy that the universe is both as massive as we believe it is and as old as we believe it is, even a very low probability of life existing on a given planet will quickly add up.
There are just so many planets.

U dont know the probability so unless u think there r infinite planets its just hope.

Gee I dunno.

This is either a joke or you’re so retarded that you don’t know about exoplanets.

>> No.11488176

Anyone who spends a lot of time thinking about it is a massive dipshit because it’s complete speculation.
My retarded university had a course on astrobiology last semester. Can you imagine sitting in class for 3 hours a week for 16 weeks discussing shit this pointless?

Some people like speculating. Cry about it.
