However, I know a far better test and I'm willing to share it with you. That test is called competition. It's a natural test that is arguably far more accurate than some simple set of puzzles. Go out and try to be the best at something that requires thought. Whether it be a video game, academia, business, or any other competitive endeavor. How far and fast you get in terms of skill relative to other people is a far more accurate way of measuring your potential. Sure there will be randomness and variance in your journey there. Your ability to get through that randomness and variance is a reflection of your conscientiousness and intelligence. If you give up when things get random you're lazy or stupid. If you persist through the randomness you're hardworking or intelligent.

So before one of you confused asshats that see this make another one of these threads please consider the information above. Make models like the one above on your own. Quit relying on others for structure. I'm tired of it. Many others are tired of it. Quit being oblivious.

If you can't become the best at something and you're upset about it then I hope your pool of tears quickly becomes mixture with blood. Life isn't fair. It's an empirical question: does IQ have predictive power above 130 or not? I don't think so. At the highest it stops at 145, but the difference between 130 and 145 seems small. IQs above 145 are complete BS, like saying Einstein had an IQ of 180. Yea right, the validated tests don't even go that high. The difference between 135 and 145 on most tests in terms of raw score is like 1 question

It can predict learning and connecting ideas but not physical skill. High verbal IQ can predict writing skill though. The IQ number itself if only showing half the picture, what matters is the spread of the scores involved. Generally they're clustered together, but the further you go to the outliers the larger the variation in individual scores.
The real tragedy is high IQ plus a learning disability.

You might have a learning disability. I have adhd and my low score is 93 (auditory working memory) but my high is 145 (verbal). My general working memory score was right on 100. I often have problems following conversations and speak like a retard but I can write well. With treatment you can bring those low ones up if your issue is focus, which can skew the results from testing itself. You need a new psychologist if he didn't know that and can't explain the score breakdown.

My overall score was 132. Just do your best and remember that identifying your problem is the first step to learning to fix it or cope with it. Make sure you're well rested, hydrated, and have eaten, just like any test. The test is long but it's also given in short chunks so if you get flustered you can take a breather and get some water in between. It may also be broken up over multiple days. If you are anxious you should let them know because they are a psychologist and should know how to help with that. You'll also probably take a general mental illness screener which includes fifty different ways of asking if you hear voices or are afraid of going outside. They won't give you the results on the same day so don't stress about it then, either. It'll take a while to calculate the scores and they'll write up a report and meet with you to discuss it.
