Why do some humans possess stronger willpowers and mental fortitude? Is this genetic? Why do only a handful(out of 100s) of Navy Seal recruits make it to the end? What separates these humans from the majority? Is it truly nature? Or is it nurture?

Is this predetermined by genetics?

I have extremely high willpower when motivated by anger/justice, and very low willpower when it comes to boring tedious pointless unromantic bullshit like going to school to aim for a career. There probably is no such thing as willpower. People just have different motivations and and anxieties.

>I only have willpower to do things I want to do
Willpower is the ability to do things you don't want to do, whether it's enduring crawling through the mud with gunfire overhead, or taking a break from your vg addiction to do your homework.

>>11397445
Definitely not the case. It’s about motivation. Most people are sheep idiots who want 9-5 career jobs and therefore do their homework. If you don’t do your homework it doesn’t mean you lack willpower, it means you’d rather be dead than follow a normal moron’s path through life.

Genetic factors can determine how easy you take things, though ultimately it is will that determines your capabilities. If you dedicate every fiber of your being towards accomplishing a goal, with enough discipline and dedication you will achive that goal. You may not be a master today, but as long as you spend every waking moment working yourself closer, you will eventually get there.

yes all behavioral phenotypes are partially due to genetics. conscientiousness and stress tolerance are probably fairly heritable

Only one ticket out of hundreds of millions is a jackpot lottery winner. Doesn't mean there's something profound about which tickets those are each time. You're glorifying the ones who end up left after a bunch of filters are applied instead of looking at the bigger picture that you just have a strong filter and inevitably some small percentage would remain behind in much the same way some small percentage of dirt will remain behind after a car wash.

Grandmom 1 was a loser addicted to alcohol.
Grandmom 2 is a people-pleasing NPC who never liked me.
Grandpop 2 is a misanthropic Jewish NEET winemaker who cheated on grandmom several times and told me and my mom "don't talk to me ever again until you are somebody."
I am here every day, a friendless, aimless, penniless, powerless loser addicted to 4chan.gov and 4channel.co.il. Many such cases!

Yeah, the filters are it. If the instructor decides on day one that he isn't going to stop the training until someone quits, until half quit, then that is what will happen.
