What is /sci/‘s opinion on pharmacy?

I fw the work life and salary for dentistry/pharm/optometry. All three allow you enough free time/privacy to goof off.

Instead we do nothing and get no respect from society who see us as fake doctors.

>> No.11370443

I don't know about "no respect" it's more like a neutral attitude. Some people want to bust their ass in medical school for 10 years and get paid 150k a year while others are perfectly fine with taking the easy route (pharmacists) and making 80k a year. It's whatever

Not sure how that’s “talentless”.

Prescriptions should be banned for Adults who can consent until it's needed for insurance purposes. Someone who could legally concept for their own responsibility should be able to get anything from a compounding company with their own money, and if they do something stupid, it'd be handled in a individual case-not against the populace as a whole.
It worked for Spain, it'll work for everywhere else.

as a physician, the pharmacist is my best friend in the hospital

given that half my life is spent managing medication for overweight noncompliant fucks, being able to page someone whose entire job revolves around knowing drugs is a lifesaver

We're seen as fake doctors because of the limited scope of practice (which is changing in some places) and the unethical cash-hounds that do anything to make a buck.

Rote learning is basically the definition of talent less. These half-wits are barely capable of integrating and I know because I was such a dreadful failure at mathematics that my teachers would often tell me not to pursue STEM as I evidently lacked the IQ. In spite of their warning I did the only "STEM" degree I was capable of doing, which turned out to be pharmacy.

I'm at a top pharma school and I fucking hate it. Was in engineering, parents kept pressuring me into pharma, people constantly jerking themselves off over "professionalism", worthless mandatory shadowing, volunteering, and meetings. Every mistake in lab is 20% off. Everyone is so chipper. The only saving Grace is that I might be able to get into the industry side of business.

Was thinking about getting an industrial role, but the pharmaceutical industry ironically has no space for pharmacists. Most of the jobs go to real scientists or people in business administration.

So many of students at school are just disillusioned people who realized their old jobs weren't they're expectations and all they care about is getting a decent cheque. There was a PhD grad who worked as a professor and came back. Another one graduated with nuclear engineering but Fukushima happened and he could only get a job as a wal greens tech. A lot of biochem majors who didn't want to be a tech slave etc.

“Talent” is just someone doing something better than you can do it. With enough experience you can reach that level and it won’t look like “talent” anymore.
