Pointless letting water evaporate, and therefore pumping in all the way to the desert. Instead of pumping just build electrolysis plants on the coasts, split water into hydrogen and oxygen, then use the hydrogen as additional power source to run the plants, the goal here is to reduce the amount of water so this should work well, also extra oxygen in the atmosphere would probably help with global warming by diluting co2 and other greenhouse gasses.
