because humans are cognitively limited and act on the definition of a future calculation based on their knowledge of the phenomena they are trying to predict.

it is of course a botched prediction, because even if you are correct and you obtain the expected outcome, you still really don't know what you are doing, meaning you could reapply the same process to the "same phenomena" and one day you might obtain a spectacular failure, which is different from your previous experience and you won't know why.

so your ability to predict stuff is influenced by the amount of stuff you correctly know, emphasis on correct, your capacity to apply it to a real context and the ability to extrapolate meaning from the result and integrate it correctfully in the original model.

this clashes with the limitations of the human brain and with how we do process and percieve reality.

if you define a genius as a person which is more skilled at noticing patterns and is more interested in acquiring tools to analyze reality, it is not hard to imagine that geniuses might see reality differently, interact with it in a nonstandard way and test things in a way it might seem bizarre.

this can be enough to warrant a "mental illness" classification of their behaviour or the behaviour itself can develop and spiral into mental illness.

having said that, there is no direct correlation or inverse correlation between genius and mental illness.

also because one of the ways psychological "illness" is based from a functional (can this behaviour work, are you functioning properly) and statistical point: you have a normal functioning behaviour when you interact with a society, but society itself is "normal" only when considered in a technological, historical and cultural frame, and so our definition of illness might change (not all of them, schizophrenia is kinda constant).

From a psychological standpoint, even "normal" people tend to have moments of mental illness. The problem is when it gets pathological.
It could be that we don't know how to deal with it and alienate the people who think in a different way, and because they think in a different way, they can understand the world in a different view and make breakthroughs.
It's just an opinion.

The Universe is a perfect, infinite "fluid" that expands and contracts according to an exact diffusion algorithm that simply disperses positive (expanding) and negative (contracting) real-number values. Awareness of the real state of things. Inability to just fall into being a mindless actor of your society, a product of time and place. Intelligence tends towards uncommon interests and unique thoughts which is alienating to begin with, but in the modern world it's doubly so because everyone is oversocialised so legitimate individuality is aggressively shunned and stamped out under morally righteous and economically convenient pretexts. A traditional society is rigid in what it is but doesn't deny you your individuality or demand you self-morph into a copy of whatever settings are current pop culturally.

Another thing is lack of structure, hierarchy, direction, and meaning. Modern society offers vapid commercial versions of these contingent on profitability. They don't exist in the people that practise them nor as social items in themselves, they can be changed or discarded on economic whim. And the options available are simply inadequate and anti-human. No wonder whites kill themselves for example, as any identity or meaning they create for themselves is either subverted or outright attacked and destroyed, denied the right to exist. But this applies broadly to everyone, it's just more economic to fabricate identities for non-whites and anti-identities for whites.

You can do this yourself, which is the best way to understand why this is true.
