/sci/, I'm taking an online take-home test for my pre-calc class...
I really need this grade and I don't know what the answer to this is.

WolframAlpha has failed on me (see: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=y%3D%28x-7%29^3%2B8+inverse ), but that is beside the point--I'd also like to know how I should solve this!

inb4no homework threads...you guys love me lol

y=(x-7)^3+8
Inverse:
x=(y-7)^3+8
x-8=(y-7)^3
cubedroot(x-8)=y-7
cubedroot(x-8)+7=y

To do this switch x and y in the function with each other. Now solve for y

Thank you so much for what I'm supposed to be doing

Thanks so much for taking the time out to actually solve it too!

I have faith in /sci/...

You can delete your homework thread now.

I don't have faith in you though lol. Google it or take some time to actually look at the beginning of your book next time.

Fuck it. You'll be back anyway. lol

I remember how tedious pre-calc was for me. Figured you might benefit from seeing it like it'd be drawn on the board.

Definitely, man. I enjoy my teacher though. I'm like the only kid who pays attention and often I have discussions with him which make kids say "omg shut up already..."

now I'm like on one of the last problems, didn't need help until now...

is this question missing some numbers? it only gives me one...where is I?

Just bumping this thread once. Don't get mad, guys.

Man, can it get any easier?

If the inverse of a function y=f(x) is x=f(y) with x and y switched, Here's my stab at it:

y=(x-7)^3 + 8

y-8=(x-7)^3

CBRT(Y-8)=x-7

CBRT(Y-8)+7 = x

switching x and y

y=CBRT(y-8) + 7

>> No.1132306

The answer is C.
