Hello /sci/,
Pretty sure this is the right board.
I live in a fitted out shipping container and was wondering how I could combat the extreme heat. I have a fan and cooler but the heat is too intense presently. Any other methods to cool this sucker down?

The fan will only increase the temperature inside. Stop using that. What you could do is pee in a bottle, then place that pee in the middle of the hot container until it evaporates and you are left with an evaporated pee bottle. Bring the bottle outside. Now crush the bottle, compressing it. The pee with condense, but also it will release some of its enthalpy into the outside air. Bring the bottle back inside and decompress it. It will evaporate again. Repeat. Slowly but surely, you will pump enthalpy out of the container and thus lower the temperature. Pee bottle air conditioning.

But it would then reek of piss?

Uhh, you leave the bottle closed the entire time. There is no odor.

First thing you need to do is cover the shipping container. Get a carport tent or two.

create a white insulated outer skin with an air gap so that the sun only hits the outside layer and that the energy is dissipated or reflected.

That does look kinda neat, OP. But how do you power the lamp over the window?

Try shipping yourself to a cooler climate.

You need to install a vent in the ceiling leading outside. Also, get yourself an indoor air conditioner and just run the exhaust tube outside.

i always thought you could make a cheap air conditioner by buying a long hose, like as long as you can, then digging a big hole in the soil at least 4-5 feet deep and big enough to unfurl the hose, then bury it, then run water through it with a pump to a radiator in your room. the soil stays cold that far under the soil so you will get a fairly chilled radiator

Ground-source heat pumps are a thing, so I don’t see why you couldn’t use it as a heat absorption method.

How did you get a shipping container connected to the grid? Connected to someone's property? Did you buy the land, shipping container, and then build the rest?

in california people use to take shelter from the heat inside small metal buildings they ran constant water over.
Not sure if its possible but a water pump and a little mote around your shipping container to recirculate the water over it would probably do the trick
