Part of it is people being mindlessly contrarian, part of it is just brainlets trying to debate on a subject when they don't even have a "thoughly read the Wikipedia article" understanding on the topic. The idea that there are a bunch of particles sorta like neutrinos, but even harder to directly detect, shouldn't be so hard to grasp. I mean neutrinos themselves were predicted in order to make the energy conservation equations balance for beta decay. They were basically dark matter for decades.

Dark matter wasn't predicted though. It was postulated out of thin air to explain observations that go against the commonly used theories on gravity (i.e. these theories were falsified). I don't understand why they just admit that GR doesn't always work and move on to something else. Instead, they try to save GR by invoking some mysterious invisible matter that makes up 80% of the matter in the universe.

Besides, there are many many experiments currently being conducted to find direct evidence of at least ONE (1) dark matter particle. They found fuck all.

That is literally how all scientific models get their start.
After making the dark matter hypothesis from galaxy rotation curves you then ask yourself how does it affect other predictions about cosmology and astronomy like the CMB power spectrum, and it consistently matches observations.
