Hey I have weird white spots on my my foreskin.
It’s not any STD. They seem similar to skin but they are completely white. When I tried to remove them with a scalpel some of them hurt and some of them didn’t.
What is it?
I searched throughout the internet but found nothing similar.
They appeared during puberty (14-17).

No, I have them as well but they are on lower part of the glans.
The spots I’m talking about are on the foreskin. I was able to remove some of them with a scalpel but others were to painful to do so.
They look more like extra skin that is white. I can’t post pictures unfortunately due to rules.

I checked google pictures and it doesn’t really look like it. Also over the years they started to kinda disappear and are almost invisible now. Just looks like scar tissue.

this is stomatology rather than medicine, but here I go. few months ago I got sudden constant pain (especially in the morning) and painful sensitivity to cold in one of the premolars and it turned out to be root canal so I got it fixed. here's the problem: during winter I don't drink or eat cold, only warm, but a week ago I wanted to refresh myself or something and noticed painful sensitivity in my top left incisor. a fucking incisor. so no constant pain or anything, just really painful sensitivity. because of never drinking cold how long could have this condition be there? could it be another root canal? I also have a filling on the inner side of the back of the tooth which also seems to be the main and only source of sensitivity. could the filling be partially detached with a cavity formed under it? google isn't helping much and because of fucking exams earliest trip to dentist will be in 7-10 days. I don't want another fucking root canal, the premolar even still hurts when eating really hard food and when I knock knock it with a nail to see if it still hurts. sorry for wall of text, pls halp.

Not Murican so I didn't take the MCAT. I studied for around 1-3 hours a day on weekdays for the two months leading up to the medical school entrance exams. Amount of time studying during weekends varied cause I still went out and shit. I could've taken it more seriously and gotten better than 94th percentile but my scores were still enough to get a full ride scholarship.

Idk about 8 hours but people have different capacities for learning and retaining information. Find a method that personally works for you, senpai.

Some weeks (3-4ish) history of red (erythematous), raised patches on the scrotum. Very itchy. Antifungal cream and drying the area very very very well has not worked. Also had a rash on my hands (that I now realise looked like a syphilis rash) that doctors dismissed.
I'm starting to worry this is syphilis and I need penicillin, but I haven't had sex. I did have a lesion on my elbow mid-late last year which I now realise could have been a chancre (I also have extensor surface eczema which flared up just before the "chancre", leading to cracks in the skin as a route of entry).

I need a home remedy for sleep bruxism. It developed recently and now I wake up with intense excruciating toothaches in my left middle molars top and bottom. Wake up wanting to scream and rip the teeth out with pliers. I shovel max doses of tylenol and ibuprofen down my throat, it takes a couple hours for it to go away. The toothache in the bottom one randomly comes back during the day but less intense than when I first wake up. My face is constantly sore and tired now. My right TMJ gets so stiff and sore sometimes that I can't touch my teeth together on the right side and it becomes difficult to eat. I'm a neet with no money so a dentist is not an option for me right now. I have an SSI case and am waiting for the judge's final decision, my lawyer thinks I have won so if I do then maybe I can see a dentist after that. I need something to get me through until then. I dread falling asleep now because I know every time I'm going to wake up to that maddening pain.

I once passed out from smoking a joint extremely fast on an empty stomach, only had 1 beer prior to that joint, I remember feeling the sun was very bright/seeing white noise before I passed out.
Didn't eat the whole day, because lab work was too much, only had coffee around noon.
I know that when I was passed out, my lips were purple and face was pale, woke up to a girlfriend gently tapping my cheek and saying my name.
Felt pretty groggy afterwards and a bit the day after it.
What happened , did I green out or something like that?
This was a couple of months ago , and recently I've been worrying about it.
Also it was only the sixth time I ever smoked, but the first time to ever smoke a whole joint withouth sharing.

no it isn't, trust me it is literally never laced with other drugs. The issue with marijuana are the neurotoxic pesticides large scale grow ops use, the very poor quality control, smoking excessive non-psychoactive plant matter and the damage to your brain and lungs. You aren't going to end up with research chems or pcp in your weed ever, this makes no sense financially and people who smoke are much to attuned to the high to not notice something like that. The worst thing you can do with weed is buy from idiots who don't use proper growing techniques or don't know how to make proper oil.

Dude most surgeons do pretty well for their patients - surgeries can have some of the biggest positive impacts in patients lives, including otherwise fatal diseases like cancer if it’s caught early enough. But eg ortho surgery and lots of gen surg stuff is really helpful. Think alleviating the pain of gallstones or helping someone walk after their arthritis wrecked a hip. The real burnout specialties are like oncology or internal medicine where lots of people are on more of a managed decline.

Considering it because I've had picrelated for two years, and it's really fucking awful having to spend an hour lying down exhausted with most of my back in lots of pain after spending a literal minute vacuuming my room, filing documents or scrubbing something. The pain isn't bad enough to need meds but it's so fucking constant that it's resulting in massive insecurity and depression even when I'm just sitting in a chair or trying to get to sleep. I'm only early 20s and these issues are likely to get worse with age from what I've been told. Muscles are sacrificed to build bone and tissue. That is true of any immobilization.Your problem is you have ceased dealing with your symptoms. Don't come in here asking for help if you're not going to take it.

Now shut up and read this: Get the brace indicated in pic related. Whenever you are vertical, wear the brace. Straighten your back in good posture. Adjust the length to the maximum setting. Each day, adjust the stop to the maximum setting (will advance day by day). Maintaining this perfect, hyper-extended posture will allow for maximal bone remodeling, which is occurring all the time, not just "right after" injury.

Its your only hope, aside from reconstructive surgery at this point. Fire your doctors if they disagree with this treatment modality. Time in brace may extend many months, perhaps to years. Continue 3 month evaluations by X-ray. If there is no improvement you must continue to use the brace indefinitely until there is improvement.

Only after this adjustment occurs will you begin the very slow process of adjusting to weight bearing activities. Failure to follow these instructions may result in additional aggravating injury and disability. That pathway leads to pain management of nerve damage, which is frankly a poor prognosis.

(I'm a dirty ESL, sorry if it doesn't make much sense, I have trouble making myself perfectly clear in english).
I have a specific question, I suffered what is called a jersey finger of the 3rd type (or rugby finger in my country) when I was younger, and my ring finger never fully recovered despite the surgery. I can't completely close my hand or apply much force because of it.
Is there a way to fully return to what it was once capable of or am I stuck with weak grip and a deficient finger for the rest of my life ?
I definitely intend to ask this question to my doctor but it might be in a little while and I want to start researching possible solutions now.

if you're still around, look up examkrackers and berkley review for MCAT.

they have a lot of material out there and essentially compressed books that might give you the knowledge you need to know in enough depth to do alright. They're obviously a lot better for MCAT than they are for GAMSAT (Aus/NZ) and UKCAT or w/e it's called for the UK.

the exact exam will help to dictate what type of study you do, what your focuses are on etc. MCAT is very content heavy and you NEED the knowledge to pass. You could be einstein himself and not pass that exact if you haven't done the study. GAMSAT is getting less content heavy in favour of contextual/derived information from graphs/tables etc which makes GAMSAT less easy to study for, but easier to excel in without study.

it all comes down to working hard, identifying your flaws and patching them, and praying that the shit you're better at turns up on the exam and the shit you suck at stays off it.

my hematologist said my body is suffocating and that it is increasing hemoglobin to compensate for my shortness of breath, I no longer speak to other people because it is exhausting to hold a conversation it makes it hard to breathe...

I got a chest x-ray and the radiologist said it looks like chronic bronchitis. I also constantly have a heart rate of 100 bpm for over a year.

everything started almost 6 years ago when I noticed I was losing my memory it was around my 16th birthday and I became very aware that my brain cells were dying, I went and told everyone I was terminally ill and nobody listened and now its happening for real and everyone thinks its a delusion.
I told the doctors and they misdiagnosed me as a hypochondriac, with delusions...

next week I will go to the pulmonary functions lab and demonstrate that I am unable to complete the test, I tried last year but the machine is extremely painful and challenging to breathe into so the nurse sent me home because I failed to breathe strong enough for an hour.

Anyone got any input on applying for med school in Australia? About to turn 25 and debating if I wanna apply right away. I've got some things I'd like to do before going into medicine, namely help my friend with his energy startup, and maybe tefl for a year or two as a means to travel. Gonna to start working on the gamsat soon. Anything I should know about various schools? I've heard different things about various programs, some people say they have no free time and others say it was easier than undergrad. I'm not adverse to hard work but I'd like to know what I'm getting into so I can plan. I should note I also have Canadian citizenship so I could apply there too but honestly I doubt I'd get in since I'd be applying out of province making things much harder. Plus I'd have to start studying for the MCAT and gamsat, thoughts?

>> No.11324478

currently doing gamsat study now and interviewed (unsuccessfully) at USYD in 2019.

it's hard to be really specific because it's ultimately based on your background. if you have no science background, it is a giant pain in the ass whereas a strong science background helps a lot for obvious reasons.

australian medical schools are basically massive cash cows that lure in enormous amounts of foreign students (UQ literally changed from MBBS to MD to please chinese and american students whose countries recognise MD more so than MBBS). This makes it a giant shit of a process for domestic students, where you can have thousands of candidates who all did very well in the exam fight for 60 spots in some instances. If you aren't from smackbang in the middle of a major city, look up the GEMSAS rurality guide to see if you classify as rural. If you do, you can literally get scores of like 58-60 and be accepted into the best schools in australia, versus scores of 70+ for metro students.

the best thing you can do is look at which schools interest you, and see what hoops they want you to jump through. UOM has 2nd year pre-requisites that they're scrapping after this year, Deakin uni has all of this BS bonuses that stack and reward study at their uni as well as financial hardship, work full-time etc. The entire process remains convoluted because you still pay to apply, and if you don't meet their criteria or your score doesn't match up because of stupid bonuses or conditions, you have still paid so they don't give a shit.

as for gamsat, it's fucking hard. people enjoy this weird flex shit where they come out and say it was easy no worries, but it really isn't. I know people who did umat and gamsat, and everyone has said gamsat is much harder. it's also now a giant pain in the ass to prepare for because it's far less content heavy than it used to be in favour of context. that makes it a giant fuck around and can tear strips off 3 months of solid study in 6 hours.

>> No.11324492

>>11324478
Appreciate the info man, I wasn't aiming for UQ myself since I'd heard about it being a factory for foreign med students fucking up the process for domestic. I was looking at ANU (I know Canberra lol but they seem the least BS to get into), Deakin, Griffith, Usyd and others cause GEMSAS. I did a BSc at UBC in Canada and managed a 6.93 GPA so ideally if I can hold down this gamsat test I hope to be competitive. I don't count for rural though, checked but good call. Good luck anon.

Different guy but I can vouch for gamsat being hard. Most of the people I know wanting to do med have had to wait a few years because they've failed the first few times. Deakin is fine and I think ANU is too, though I don't know much about their med schools or med school in general.

Griffth is apparently a very good school and their graduates along with Bond are favoured in hospitals as the most competent and not aspergers.

ANU do have a bit of a fuck around process with rewarding higher degrees like masters, PHD's etc so whilst their gamsat + GPA are pretty attainable, there is also a 2% or something bonus if you have done a higher degree which doesnt make itself apparent. That's also why Deakin's scores look so low - because they're scores before the bonuses which makes them fucking huge (stacks up to 12% score onto your gamsat + GPA).

Your GPA is very good though, so a school like griffith would be a good bet because they don't fuck around with bonuses, take GPA into account for your score as opposed to it being nothing more than a hurdle, and take roughly 2/3 of interviewees. If your weighted GPA is 6.93, the usual calculation for a score is (GPA/7) + (gamsat/100), and Griffith usually take a 1.61 to 1.62 minimum. That means you need a gamsat of like 63 which is easily doable.
