>Happy New Year!
Thanks, but to someone as intelligent as me (I have a tested IQ of 168), I can recognize that something a like the Earth making a complete orbit around the Sun is utterly meaningless. This day is in no way at all astronomically important, and the fact that other humans decide to celebrate this day makes me admire them in pity. Humans are just slightly intelligent animals on a tiny planet in a solar system that inhabits 1 galaxy, out of the billions of galaxies that are there. The universe has existed for 13 billion years, which basically means that this amount of time has passed 13 BILLION TIMES! Our lives are so insignificant and, honestly, nothing that happens really matters at all. Rather than get excited over another meaningless, pointless day that we humans have, as a group, decided to be special, I shall continue to live on knowing that those that aren't blessed with my intellect will never be able to experience the true meaning of life and existence itself.

This. If OP was truly the autist he's acting like, he would have naturally reverse engineered man and his organization by now, and would recognize that these events and rituals are interfaces. Mediums for breaking from established structures. No different than moving by swimming because you're underwater, the collectively held context and expectation has been altered.

To an extent you might say "I don't need that to do what makes sense, they're the problem", and you may be right. However chances are you have your own rituals and transitionary spaces you use to organize your internal state, objects you put in your environment, sounds you listen to.

I have recently recognized that this is the way my psyche is actually structured, I project myself onto the environment and view it as a representation of my internal structure. By altering it, I may alter myself. Because of this most of what I do is arranged as an "arc". I leave the house, I walk up a hill to the open sky, see the moon and the stars and so forth. (Possibility, false clarity). then I descend down, down to the depths, the "substructure", and walk through the woods. It acts upon you accordingly, it is a transitionary space, and you emerge changed. This is just different for a common, simple, everyday experience. And of course it does invoke a higher power and a higher order. You have finite control of your nature, and even less control of the environment.

That's what ritual is.
