the most misleading thing about onions is that it contains estrogen when it actually contains phytoestrogens.
phytoestrogens have both pros and cons, pros being its antioxidant properties, lowering cancer, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes, cons being that it may disrupt your hormone system in both men and women since phytostrogens CAN (very huge emphasis on the word can since it's not fully known yet) disrupt estrogen and/or testosterone.
btw only 50% of humans (20% of westerners) have the bacteria to make equol from daidzein (isoflavone in onions)
