The 2019 December solstice takes place on Sunday, December 22, at 04:19:00 UTC
(that's December 22 at 18:19 p.m. LINT; translated UTC to your time). It marks
the Northern Hemisphere's shortest day (first day of winter) and Southern
Hemisphere's longest day (first day of summer). Happy solstice y'all.

Don't go off topic, we're talking about seasons.

Regardless of tilt, the WHOLE PLANET is further from the sun, which is why its colder, yes? So why is it HOTTER in southern regions?

The difference between Earth's farthest point and closest are very small. The cause of the seasons is due to the Earth's tilt. This was something that was taught in gradeschool physics and you should know this.

Whoever made that pic is retarded.

The Midnight Sun does have a counterpart called the Arctic night.
Also, the Midnight Sun doesn't last for three days, it lasts for a full six months right at the North Pole, while Antarctica experiences six months of night, right at the South Pole. And vice-versa during the December solstice.

>The earth makes a full rotation every 24 hours, therefore it will face the same direction at 12:00pm no matter where it is in it's revolution around the sun.
>After 6 months day would be night and night would be day. But we do not observe this.
Funny thing is that we do observe this if we use SIDEREAL TIME which is the EXACT time it takes for the Earth to do a full rotation. You're confusing SIDEREAL TIME with SOLAR TIME. In SOLAR TIME the Earth makes one rotation in about 23 hours and 56 minutes while in SIDEREAL TIME it makes a full rotation in 24 hours.

Without a curve, how can lake water (which by all rights should be flatter than anything) obscure some 20 stories of skyscraper and leave the tops in plain view? Your “u cant see forever” red herring has nothing to do with water overlapping part of this skyline. And the only thing preventing you from seeing forever is time dilation which is of no relevance at the distances you might view something on earth.

I really hope this is a joke. Earth’s orbit is nearly circular, and seasons have no relation whatsoever to it.

>> No.11248537

>>11244860
>Regardless of tilt, the WHOLE PLANET is further from the sun, which is why its colder, yes?

No. Earth’s seasons are caused by its tilt towards the sun. The seasons have zero relation whatsoever to the earth’s distance from the Sun, and in fact, the earth is closest to the sun in winter.
