Explain what discipline is, if you think enough about it, you will find a hard time trying to really pin it down, to me taht tells me its probably not real. Every decision you make can be explained by whether you want to do something or not.

Discipline the ability to stay consistent and not fluctuate in terms of your desires and motivations. Essentially the ability to keep promises for yourself. That means if you said you were going to run every morning at 6 am, you do it, regardless if you feel like it or want it at that particular moment.

Force yourself into hardship or be forced into a situation so you can adjust to it.

Ofcourse you won't be disciplined as people born with discipline trait, aka conscientiousness, but you'll get close to the experience.

But you are incapable of doing something you dont want to do.

Usually when the whole "motivation is unreliable disciple is the answer" thing comes up, what is really meant by motivation is an extreme desire to do something. And what is really meant by discipline is motivation.

Discipline is just the word for successfully controlling your own motivation. Its still motivation that drives.

Ill show you that you are wrong. Lets say that I hate my job, yet I always show up for work. Why am I working if I hate my job? The reason is because I want to be there. I have the desire to make money which I can only get from my job, although I hate my job, it gives me enough reason to show up everyday.

Discipline is the act of rationally taking control of the lizard part of your brain. Motivation is just the animal part of your brain having the right combination of chemical levels, if you rely on it you are a pleb.

He's been publishing books lately, and considering he's pushing 80 he probably feels like he's working on a time limit to publish what he needs to publish before he dies.

Must be pretty crazy to be in prison while technology like the internet and smartphones come out in the outside world
